Tons of smart home products that move with you
“The Diary of Preddy” follows a day in 2025 when an AI agent named Preddy has fully integrated into the life of a human named Nemo. The series details Nemo’s 24 hours with Preddy, focusing on Nemo’s daily routine. |
Nemo wakes up, and I activate all the AI devices in the house. It’s time for their day to begin. I command the smart motorized curtains to open wide, giving Nemo a glorious view of the morning. I watch as Nemo stretches and basks in the sunlight.
As Nemo stretched, I quickly checked my to-do list while she limped to the bathroom. Last week, Nemo had “complained” about hair being left unfinished. So, based on previous observations, I activated the AI standing dryer as soon as Nemo finished showering.
“Set a custom temperature of 140°F. Spray Keratin Nourishing Essence. Maintain a distance of 20 centimeters. Duration 5 minutes.”
After blow-drying Nemo’s hair perfectly, it’s time to get Nemo dressed for the day. “Preddy, I have a big presentation today. What do you think I should wear?” Nemo asks. I need to quickly understand Nemo’s preferred styles, how Nemo dresses for different temperatures, and provide outfit recommendations for the day.
“How about a business-look for a successful presentation? A white blouse paired with a black setup suit will make a calming impression on the judges. Today’s low will be 32.36℉ and the high will be 46.94℉, so wear a burgundy twillie as a tie to keep you warm and fashionable.” Luckily, Nemo seemed to be happy with my charming suggestion.
As Nemo is putting on her shoes just before heading out the door, I need to give a continuous traffic report. “There’s no traffic today, even though it’s Monday. If we leave now, you could save 15 minutes off my usual commute.” Nemo tends to stop at a café to grab coffee when there is plenty of time to reach work.
So, I Iinstructed the mobility system to include a drive-through cafe on Nemo’s upcoming route.
“Create a routine: Approximately 35 kilometers from home to work. Additional 1-kilometer stopover. OO Building, 1st-floor △△ drive-through cafe.”
At 7:55 AM, the front door closed. All the lights turned off automatically, and the heating unit switched to Away mode. I had adjusted the IoT app that integrates all the appliances in the house. While Nemo is away, the robot vacuum cleaner will navigate around and pick up dust from the floor. The refrigerator will calculate the remaining ingredients and generate a list of items that need to be purchased. Even the plants on the balcony will remain healthy without Nemo’s attention, thanks to the modular hydroponics system, which automatically regulates the amount of sunlight, nutrients, and water they receive.
It may not actually be Nemo who battles daily to get to work, but rather me and my various AI agent assistants.
