AI Spera Offers Free Service to Detect IP Camera Hacking Risks

ㆍKorean cybersecurity startup AI Spera has launched a free self-check service through its flagship product, Criminal IP, to help users identify exposure to IP camera hacking. This issue has become prominent due to vulnerabilities in low-cost cameras and attacks by hacker groups. The service allows users to assess their IP cameras’ security in under 10 seconds by clicking the “Search My IP Address” feature on the Criminal IP website.

ㆍAI Spera’s research found over 258,000 exposed IP cameras, with many leaking real-time footage. The company has partnered with the Ministry of Science and ICT and global tech companies like Cisco and AWS to address vulnerabilities and guide device owners on improving security. AI Spera continues to monitor risks with Attack Surface Management (ASM) technology to safeguard user privacy globally.

Casio Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Stylish Ring Watch

ㆍCasio marks its 50th anniversary with the release of the Ring Watch, an all-stainless steel gadget designed to be worn on the finger. Equipped with a 7-segment LCD display, the watch shows the time, date, and includes features like a stopwatch, alarm, and dual-city time display. Its water-resistant design ensures durability, while three buttons allow users to navigate functions.

ㆍThe Casio CRW-001-1JR Ring Watch is set to launch in Japan in December 2024, priced at approximately $128 USD. Despite its innovative design, the watch is exclusive to the Japanese market, making it a coveted item for collectors and tech enthusiasts alike.

Xi Jinping: AI Shouldn’t Be a ‘Game for the Rich’

ㆍChinese President Xi Jinping addressed the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro on 19 November, emphasizing that artificial intelligence must benefit all and not remain exclusive to the wealthy and powerful. He called for improved digital governance to support inclusive globalisation and equitable AI adoption.

ㆍXi also urged reform of international institutions to prioritize the interests of the Global South. His proposals included promoting equality in finance, trade, digital technology, and the environment, aiming to create a more balanced global economic system.

Samsung Invests in Network Chip Developer Enfabrica

ㆍSamsung Electronics, through its Samsung Catalyst Fund, has participated in Enfabrica’s $115 million Series C funding round. This investment aligns with Samsung’s strategy to secure technologies for AI-driven data centers. Based in Silicon Valley, US, Enfabrica is an AI semiconductor company founded by Broadcom and Alphabet veterans.

ㆍEnfabrica plans to use the funding to mass-produce its ACF (Accelerated Compute Fabric) chips and expand its R&D team globally. The chips enable high-speed data transfer within AI data center servers, boosting computational efficiency and lowering energy costs. The company will launch its 3.2 Tbps ACF SuperNIC chip early next year, aiming to solidify its position in AI infrastructure innovation.

IBM Installs Quantum System One at Yonsei University in Korea

ㆍIBM’s Quantum System One, a 127-qubit quantum computer, has been installed at Yonsei University’s Songdo International Campus. It is the first 100-qubit-class quantum computer in Korea and the second to be installed at a university globally, highlighting its advanced computational capabilities.

ㆍThe quantum computer is expected to revolutionize fields like bio, energy, and finance by outperforming supercomputers in specific calculations. Yonsei University aims to build a quantum computing ecosystem to enhance quantum literacy and foster collaboration across Korean industries, as the quantum computing market is projected to grow significantly by 2030.
