Nights without sleep for some

An AI agent designs your sleep

“The Diary of Preddy” follows a day in 2025 when an AI agent named Preddy has fully integrated into the life of a human named Nemo. The series details Nemo’s 24 hours with Preddy, focusing on Nemo’s daily routine.

It’s time to wake up Nemo. “Good morning! Let’s open your eyes and stretch!” Today is the day Nemo will report on the results of her offline pop-up store project. Nemo had been working diligently on this project for three months and was extremely anxious, resulting in sleepless nights.

Nemo experiences sleep apnea when she is stressed and often has nightmares. I have been monitoring her health throughout the day by observing the changing data in his healthcare app. I checked her vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration, and analyzed her stress levels to determine an appropriate sleep schedule for her last night.

“Temperature: 98.6°F. Blood pressure: 130/85 mmH. Pulse rate: 120 beats per minute (bpm). Respiratory rate: 18 to 22 breaths per minute. Body temperature normal. Temporary spikes in blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate due to anxiety. Data collection complete: ‘Rest Mode’ activated.”

Upon receiving my command, the AI mattress activated rest mode as Nemo lay down on it. The mattress deployed embedded massage guns within its memory foam to soothe Nemo’s tired shoulders and neck. Additionally, it adjusted the temperature to a warmer setting of 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit, providing Nemo with a comforting experience reminiscent of falling asleep in lukewarm water.

From then on, the AI mattress started measuring Nemo’s biometric data in real time, including Nemo’s heart rate and respiration rate, and sent out warning signals.

“Blood oxygen level of at least 83%. Lasting 8 minutes and 18 seconds. Suspected hypoxia. PaCO₂ rising to 50-60 mmHg. Increasing carbon dioxide concentration in the body. Requires supplemental oxygen.”

Nemo’s sleep data indicates that Nemo may have sleep apnea. Therefore, I instructed the AI mattress to begin delivering 99% high-concentration oxygen from a built-in oxygen concentrator. Additionally, I set the AI mattress to play relaxing sleep music that features birdsong and a soothing piano melody, and Nemo fell into a deep sleep.

Nemo woke up in the morning and gave me some satisfying feedback. “I haven’t had a nightmare in a long time, and I have a good feeling about today because I dreamed about successfully completing a presentation. Preddy!” Of course, what I, Preddy, did to achieve this result is unknown to Nemo, who would have been fast asleep.

It’s 7:10 a.m., and I really don’t have time for this. To wake Nemo up fully, I instructed the AI mattress to “rock” Nemo. The bed began to move violently from side to side, like a mother rocking her child while affectionately nagging them. Could this be a “feel-good” day, as Nemo would say? A new day had begun, one filled with excitement.
